A Hope Springs Christmas by Patricia Davids

Image
A Hope Springs Christmas by Patricia Davids My rating: 4 of 5 stars A Hope Springs Christmas is the the seventh book in the Brides of Amish County series. But works very well as a stand alone. Which is what it was for me. Sarah is a widow, and doesn't think she will ever find love again, in fact she doesn't want to. She's afraid to love again, afraid because to here it seems that everyone she loves is taken away from her too soon. Levi, a bachelor, to some believe he is destined to be an 'old boy'. Lives and works across the way from Sarah, renting out the place for a buggy business. He's always dreamed of leaving Hope Springs to go Colorado, but because of his promise to Jonas, Sarah late husband and his best friend he stays to make sure she is well looked after until she remarries. Sarah and Levi are tossed together more then normal as Grace, his sister, goes off to Pennsylvania to visit their Grandmother. While she is there helping out at the shop, Grace

Always Yours (Lagos Romance Series) by Somi Ekhasomhi

Image
Always Yours by Somi Ekhasomhi My rating: 4 of 5 stars Sophie is hard working and runs her own magazine, Living Lagos. She's had one real heart break, something or rather someone who she has never really stopped loving, Michael Ade-Cole. She hasn't seen him in years. She couldn't bring herself to talk to him, not matter how much her tried to get in contact with her. All because of one little word, sorry. One little word read into the wrong way. Now Micheal is back in town, just has handsome but he's not alone. Always Yours is a very sweet and light romance. But not too fluffy. It's a book about heart break, moving on but never really, and misunderstanding. Things could have been a lot different, if sorry wasn't said, if another word/sentenced was said instead. We would be reading a different book. Looking forward to see if there is squeal involving Ada and Eddie I enjoyed the story, only real criticism I have would be the repeating of things. It didn't m

Beneath A Blood Red Moon (Vampire, #1) by Shannon Drake

Image
Beneath A Blood Red Moon by Shannon Drake My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book has been in my book case for YEARS!!!! Just never gotten around to reading it, like so many of my other books, especially the older ones. You know how it is, a new book comes out and you want to read them. It is very easy to tell that this book was written in the 90s. Not that this is a bad thing, it's the type of vampire novel that gotten me into the PNR. Something that I really liked was how both Countess Elizabeth Báthory and Jack the Ripper were both mentioned(both who I am very fascinated with), Jack more so but for reason I won't get into because I'm not in a use spoiler kind of mood. I will admit that this book did take me sometime to get into and I think it's because I have gotten to used to today's PNR books, that it just took me a moment to realized that this was one of the older ones. Once it had my attention I really enjoyed it, I liked how it went back and forth in modern tim

I Kissed a Dog (Werewolves of the West, #1) by Carol Van Atta

Image
I Kissed a Dog by Carol Van Atta My rating: 4 of 5 stars Chloe Carpenter has a unique ability she can communicate with animals, not in words so much, but she can read the thoughts as a series of images. An ability that she doesn't really know the full extent off. Until one day she hears the thoughts of the very sexy, yet annoying (to her) newest co-worker. Dr. Zane Marshall is new to Plum City Wildlife Park who has his special ability, other then being the rescuer of Chloe, he is a werewolf. He's been sent there to check out the murders that have been taking place to young males between the ages 18 and 35. Thinking someone who he knows, but someone he doesn't want anything to do with, is the reason behind them all. There is so much promise for this series, but I won't lie there were parts that irked me. A little slow starting but once you get into it, it is very gripping with a nice little twist and a 'Wow I never saw that coming!' moment. The ending in parti

The Secret of Willow Lane by Virginia Rose Richter

Image
The Secret of Willow Lane by Virginia Rose Richter My rating: 4 of 5 stars Jessica is like a lot of kids growing up in the 80s, sending away for a detective kit, probably one that was clipped out of an Archie comic. And it couldn't come at better time, there are lights in the window in the old house across the street. No ones has lived in there since Mr.Johnson's death. So who is that man in the window? I think think this was a very good start to a children's mystery series. As a child I always enjoyed reading Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys and other detective books. Mystery is still one of my favorite genres today and I know that if I was to have read this as a child I would have really liked it. The writing is well done and easy for kids to understand, as an adult I was able to guess the outcome of events, but that didn't make the story any less enjoyable. View all my reviews

Accidentally Amish by Olivia Newport

Image
Accidentally Amish by Olivia Newport My rating: 4 of 5 stars I'm am very grateful to be given the chance to review this book. Accidentally Amish takes place both in modern day and in 1700s. I think what really drew me to this was finding out that these people, who came across on the Charming Nancy were real. Not just made up for the story. This story was a nice little eye opener to the ways of the Amish, I will admit I'm still only new to the actual reading of books centered around them. But lately I've been really interested in learning more. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author and series, can not wait to see what happens with Annie and Rufus. View all my reviews

The Librarian by Logan Belle

Image
The Librarian by Logan Belle My rating: 3 of 5 stars Regina's dream and goal in life was to become a librarian for the New York Public Library. She is quite and keeps to herself, hasn't really date much and in fact is still a virgin. Always putting her studies first when she was growing up. Sebastian, is a rich and handsome photographer. From the moment he see's Regina he wants her, he wants to dominate her. After reading the blurb of this book I had high exceptions of it. I hate to say it but they were not met, not saying I didn't enjoy reading it but it was lacking something. I did love that it was Bettie Page inspired and I love that it was about a quite keeps to herself, librarian. View all my reviews

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Image
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith My rating: 4 of 5 stars Gosh what a great little read that was. It would make a wonderful film. I've always said it things happen for a reason. You're running late and get stuck in traffic, why you are held up because there was an accident. If you had been on time, it could you being carried off in an ambulance. So as I just said all things happen for a reason. If everything had went according to plan and Hadley got on her original flight this story would have been very different. View all my reviews

Undercover Professor by December Gephart

Undercover Professor by December Gephart My rating: 4 of 5 stars "Whatever I can get. Customer service, sales. But I’m really into World of Warcraft—type online gaming. That’s what my article is on. Do you game?" I knew I was going to give this book a little extra attention after I read that line, first thing I thought was "Nice a WOW mention." Player one:: Lucy Benoit, she is very hard working she has a full time job, goes to community collage and plays soccer with the girls on Monday nights. She's been hurt in the past, so because of that she has created rules for any potential male she meets, but what's the point of the rules if there isn't any "zing" Player two: Andy Sullivan, is jobless, staying with his mom, plays video games and doesn't meet ANY of of Lucy's rules. But there is ZING a plenty. Dr. Drew Sullivan, how ever does. But he unfortunately for both of them he can't tell her who he really is, she needs to think he&

Entwined by Heather Dixon

Image
Entwined by Heather Dixon My rating: 4 of 5 stars Azalea, is the eldest of the twelve princess, it is up to her to look after her sisters when their mothers dies. She makes this promise to her her mother, a promise on silver, an oath. After the death of her mother, her father, the king has to go off to war and they are confined in the palace for a year, in mourning. The palace, which was once owned by an evil king, had enchanted the whole place. Some things still held there magic, even after the palace was disenchanted. A tea pot and sugar tongs, secret passage ways that need to be opened with silver. It is in one of these passages that they discover the silver forest, the dancers and The Keeper. He invites them to come whenever they like, to dance. Every night, all twelve princess go through the passage to dance in the magic. But all things come with a price. I really liked Entwined. As I was reading I felt as if I knew this story. Then it hit me, I was reading a story I had already

Sunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk

Image
Sunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk My rating: 4 of 5 stars Sam, is a single father. His children, Emma and Cole, are his world even if doesn't always put them first. A busy man who has a business to run. Wanting to spend more time with his kids decides to take them to the coast for the summer. He doesn't trust easily, he's been used many times before and thinks that everyone is out for themselves, wanting what he can do for them and not him for himself. Sunny, as cheerful and sweet as her name suggests, will take any job she can to get by and pay off her debt, as well to save to go back to college. After her grandmother got sick, she left school to devote all her time and energy taking care of the one person who was both a mother and father to her. After her death she was left with a huge debt. She doesn't believe in asking for help, even though at a drop of hat she would go out of her way to help others. Still a believer in fairy tales and happily ever after. I fo

Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Image
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout My rating: 5 of 5 stars Fantastic! I was unsure how I was going to like Daemon because I liked Dawson so much in Shadows and well he wasn't the most pleasant person in it. And yes he's still acting like an asshat but I didn't mind it. It helped in the tension development between him and Katy. Which is always plus for me. As I read this I was literally laughing out loud, some of the digs where just great. So can't wait to read the next book. View all my reviews

The Host by Stephenie Meyer My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was sooo wary going into this book. I didn't enjoy Meyers' Twilight series, other then the first book. So I was pleasantly surprised as I read this. I will not lie something with the ending bugged me slightly, like it was just tossed on at the last minute. I do hope she writes the next book soon though. View all my reviews

How Beauty Met the Beast by Jax Garren

Image
How Beauty Met the Beast by Jax Garren My rating: 4 of 5 stars How Beauty Met the Beast, is a retelling of the classic tale. The beast: Hauk, a former American solder who, after a fire in Afghanistan, is horribly scarred. Beauty: Joile, a student, and burlesque dancer. In the beginning of this book there is a very hot sexual encounter, I assumed would set the tone for the rest of this book, I couldn't be more wrong. But really that was fine with me because we were given the chance to watch Hauk and Jolie's friendship develop and a trust build. Both seem to very interested in each other, but neither make a move to the next step. Hauk, thinking his scars and burns so hideous that someone as beautiful as Jolie would never want anything more then friendship. And Jolie, wanting to see him more often, fears that Hauk will only think it's out of pity. She also doesn't want to be used, fearful that because of his appearance he'll take any opportunity with anyone, just to

Cowboy Heat (Hell Yeah!, #1) by Sable Hunter

Image
Cowboy Heat by Sable Hunter My rating: 3 of 5 stars Aron is the eldest of the McCoy boys, it's been four since he's been with a woman. He's been burned in the past by his ex-wife and he isn't looking for anything serious, in fact he isn't looking at all. Then he see's Libby standing in his kitchen, and he wants her, he wants her really bad. Libby has leukemia, she's been battling it for years, but good news she is now in remission and wants to go out and live her life for however long she has. She's read many erotic romance novels, and she wants to experience all that she has read, and it's Aron that she wants to do them with. I'm not going to lie at times, lots of times, I found Cowboy Heat to be very cheesy. Painfully cheesy even. I'm not trying to be mean, or bash this book. But somethings had be shaking my head and thinking oh dear. At the very end of this book, there was a random character written in. At first I was thinking what is

Forever and Always by Jennifer McNare

Image
Forever and Always by Jennifer McNare My rating: 3 of 5 stars I was given this book by the author for review. Rating: 3.5 My feelings about this book are mixed. On one hand I enjoyed the story. But then on the other I was annoyed with it. Nicholas, for lack of a better word, is a jerk. Who is stuck in the past, I understand he hasn't had the best experiences with females, his mother leaving them, his former fiancee cheating and having most women just throw themselves at him in the hopes of becoming the next Duchess of Sethe. But past experiences aside it doesn't excuse his actions. He is quick to temper without asking or thinking. Ashleigh St. John, is a reckless spitfire who is very forgiving, but I feel too forgiving. As I was glaring at Nicholas I couldn't help but think, oh Ashleigh don't be a fool, stop forgiving him. Out of all the characters, the ones I enjoyed the most who be ones were in it the least, Brendan and Alex. I would have liked to read more of them

Red by Kate Kinsey

Image
Red by Kate Kinsey My rating: 4 of 5 stars Red, is a mystery thriller that takes centers around the lifestyle know as kink, BDSM. To the community they are church going, charity giving law abiding citizens. That is the face the outside world sees, and in fact they are all these things. They are teachers, dentist, etc. But it isn't something they talk about, not out in the open in their everything day lives. Someone doesn't like what they do, someone thinks they are all a bunch of perverts a taint on the community. Someone is out to make them stop. Kate Kinsey has written this book very well. Parts of this book are very dark and very disturbing, some of things read about at the crime scenes had me squirming in my chair as I read them. Not for the faint of heart. In my head I saw play out so vivid like I was watching it on the big screen. I was rather surprised by the time I had finished. Fantastic book, highly recommend, I just don't be eating tomato soup while doing so l

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost

Image
One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost My rating: 5 of 5 stars Book two of Jeaniene Frosts Night Huntress series, does not disappoint. You want action, HOT bedroom scenes, a sexy British vampire, then this book is for you. I still picture Spike as Bones, even if he isn't a peroxide blonde. But I tend to place James Marsters as leading man in a lot of my books ;) View all my reviews

Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor

Image
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor My rating: 4 of 5 stars I really liked this book, original and different. The second half dragged a little for me. But over all the story was great. REALLY looking forward to the next book. Karou isn't a normal teenager, she is talent artist, speaks multiple languages and was raised by what we call "demons". She constantly feels like there is something missing and alone. Until she meets Akiva, a handsome yet deadly angel, a solider, and enemy. As the pieces fall into place and the secrets are reviled. Can she ever really with him? This is a story of star-crossed lovers, war, wishes and hope. View all my reviews

Lover Revealed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #4) by J.R. Ward

Image
Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward My rating: 4 of 5 stars I liked this book, it was a little slow starting for me because it had been so long since I had read the last book in the series. So as things happened or people came on the scene I would pause and start to remember bits on the previous books. I flip flopped so many times with Marissa. One minute I liked her the next I wanted to just glare at her. Same for Butch, he's not getting off the hook that easy. Both of them frustrated me over and over. But I still liked them both. Now Vishous on the other, hand he perked my interest. I can't wait to encounter more of him. View all my reviews

Point of Retreat (Slammed, #2) by Colleen Hoover

Image
Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was so butterflying good, yeah I needed to say that. I spent the past two days reading this book and Slammed , I am emotionally drained, but that's a good thing. I could go on about these books, about its characters, who are some of the best written and interesting characters I have had the pleasure to meet in long time. But I won't because this book, these books you just need to read for yourself. I have read many books in my life and I love many books, but there are only small handful of series/books that have left me feeling like this, like I don't know where to go, what to do next, and that's a good thing. All I can say is wow. I just have to say thank you Collen Hoover for writing these two wonderfully powerful books. View all my reviews

Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Image
Slammed by Colleen Hoover My rating: 5 of 5 stars Trying to gather my thoughts to write this, it's hard to do with tears flowing down my over my cheeks. This book is unbelievably to good to be true. I just loved it. This book, it made me feel so much emotion. I've smiled, laughed, glared, swooned, and cried while reading this. Collen Hoover has written one of those rare books that hooks you and makes feel everything because the characters are written so well that you can not help but fall in love, feel their pain, and smile when they do. Definitely one of my top favorites of 2012. View all my reviews

Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee

Image
Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee My rating: 4 of 5 stars Yet another great book by Tanith Lee, this is the fourth book of hers that I have read, and I have yet to be disappointed. Black Unicorn is a story, about a young girl, Tanaquil, who is bored and lonely. She feels her mother, who is powerful sorceress, has no time for her. Her father she knows nothing of him, she has never known him. She can mend things, everything she fixes, never breaks. One day with the help of peeve,( cat like animal) she discovers a bunch of bones in the desert. Puts them together to discover it's a unicorn, which comes to life. Tanaquil seems to have this connection with it, or it to her. And chases after it one night, which is the start of her adventure. I could go on, and tell more, but I believe this book should be read and the reader should see the story for themselves. View all my reviews

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

Image
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut My rating: 4 of 5 stars Slaughterhouse-Five is a fantastic book. Dark, funny, intelligent, sad. Billy Pilgrim, the main character in this book is an American POW. We get to experience is life, some times a few times over as he travels through time and his life in the Tralfamadorians zoo. This has got me thinking, did Billy really time travel and were there really aliens. Perhaps these are the memories of a man who had survived Dresden. Perhaps, something snapped at some point, a result of the war, and as he is just remembering things in a mixed up ways. Perhaps after reading the books by Kilgore Trout, his memories of what happened and what he had read blended together over time. Or perhaps I'm just reading into it a differently because it's always fun to look at all angles. Perhaps, he did really travel and there really were aliens. And has been seeing his life in the past and the future, knowing that all these things will happen and not

Outside In (Insider, #2) by Maria V. Snyder

Image
Outside In by Maria V. Snyder My rating: 4 of 5 stars A little slow starting for me, but I think that was just because the first bit was talking about the events of Inside Out . Which to someone who hadn't read the first book recently that would be fine, but as I had only finished that book not that long ago it made the story creep along. I just wanted to get into the action of it. And when the action did start I was engrossed in it. I was left just as confused as Trell, I didn't know who was telling the truth and who wasn't. I am interested to find out if there is a third book in the works for this series. View all my reviews

Bait (Angler, #1) by Annie Nicholas

Image
Bait by Annie Nicholas My rating: 4 of 5 stars Connie, hunts vampires, but not in the traditional sense. She doesn't do the actual slaying, she works on a team and her job is bait. She's an attractive little blonde who is sent out to clubs in the search of vampires. Once she makes contact with her target she lures them some place private, and that is when the "action" happens. And by action I mean her team sweeps in takes over. But this time things don't go as planed. I really enjoyed this book, looking forward to reading the next book. View all my reviews

The Night Watch (Watch #1) by Sergei Lukyanenko,

Image
The Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book makes you ask questions and ponder things like, what is truth. It makes you think, while neatly wrapped up in the world of magics, light and dark. Destiny, are all things known, can you change it? Your actions maybe able to bend things, or at least lead you to believe they do when in the grand scheme of things, you are just a mere little player, a pawn. The Night Watch was a fantastic book, I enjoyed that it was broken down into 3 stories within. But all 3 played an important role to the next. Much like life, we don't just keep going non stop, we take our breaks, we sleep, season change. The things we have done in the past tend to effect the events in the future. View all my reviews

Ward Against Death (Chronicles of a Reluctant Necromancer, #1) by Melanie Card

Image
Ward Against Death by Melanie Card My rating: 4 of 5 stars So this book, I liked it, I didn't love it. I did however really enjoy Ward, I like the shy, nerdy kind of guy who always comes through in the end. It's a nice change from the tough guy, alpha male in most novels. Another reason I think I enjoyed him as much as I did is because I kept on picturing Daniel Jackson (Stargate SG-1) as him, and I have a soft spot when it comes to him. Celia, I just wasn't feeling her, probably due to the fact she wasn't always the nicest to Ward and well I like him. View all my reviews

Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price

Image
Grave Witch by Kalayna Price My rating: 5 of 5 stars So wow Grave Witch, an urban fantasy with out vampires or werewolves. Kind of refreshing, not saying anything bad about the vampires and weres just nice to read something different. I really enjoy my urban fantasy's that involve magics, and this one is different then ones I have read before. A Grave Witch is what Alex Craft is, she has the ability to raise the dead, well a shade of their former self. Her clients tend to be people wanting to find out information on family history/ wills disputes etc. But she also works with the police/DA in murder cases, finding how they died and who killed them. Definitely have a new book crush to add to the ever growing list of fictional characters I'm getting giddy over, Falin. Oh my, love how he is so sure of himself, his cockiness, the eye brow arch, LOVE it!!! *Swoon* And then you have Death, who I can't wait to learn more about. I'm sensing he's going to be the romantic

Inside Out (Insider, #1) by Maria V. Snyder

Image
Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder My rating: 4 of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars. I haven't really read many dystopian novels, so this was a nice change for me. When I had first started I was unsure if I was going to like it but as I got further into it I hooked. Trella, the "Queen of the Pipes" as her fellow srubs call her, did not believe that there was something else, something/place better, the gateway as they call it. In her mission to prove it's non-existence or even existence, meets Riley, an upper, and discovers that what she has always believed isn't what it seems. Still some stones uncovered, really looking forward to reading the next book. Definitely a book I can see me re-reading, need to pick up physical copy. View all my reviews

Abandoned Angel by Kayden Lee My rating: 4 of 5 stars Where do I begin. This book made me feel so many different emotions. From complete disgust and pure hate to breaking my heart. There were moments when I physically felt ill because of the abuse in this book, I was scared for Angelina and my heart ached for her. At times I would think why am I continuing, this is just too much. But I had to, I was on edge, Kayden Lee held my attention from the very start. I will definitely be checking out her other books once they are released. View all my reviews

Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione

Image
Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione My rating: 4 of 5 stars 4 and 1/2 stars. I must explain why I never gave it full 5 stars. The start I wasn't really sure how much I was going to enjoy it. When Tayla was called a buffy, I thought it was cute. But I'm not going to lie after it was used a few times over it did get a tad annoying, hey I love buffy but it felt overused at the start. Which is something that was making me unsure about the book. Made me wonder if things were just going to be repeated over and over. Also I just wasn't feeling it, at one point I thought maybe I should put this aside and read it again at a later date, funny I know seeing how I devoured it once I got into it. Once I hit the 65 pageish mark I couldn't get enough of it. I would sit and get like 20 pages read before I would notice that I had. Glad I stuck with it because this book was fantastic and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series and the authors writing. View all my reviews

The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt My rating: 5 of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars. This was my first Elizabeth Hoyt and won't be my last. Over all this book was very funny, and very very hot. I was going to say steamy but that would just be an understatement. Blush factor very high. I enjoyed Anna, she was very witty and fun. I found there little game of pass the book to be rather cute. I was however taken back a little by how vulgar some of the conversations/thoughts were, just because it's not what I'm used to reading in historical romances. Not saying that it was a bad thing just took me off guard. View all my reviews

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon My rating: 4 of 5 stars I enjoyed the story but I found it to be a tad too long. I would have been perfectly happy to see the story end a little sooner then it did. Will I read the others? Not really sure, as I'm happy to see it as a stand alone. View all my reviews
