Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning

Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning My rating: 3 of 5 stars So I decided not to throw this book at the wall even though at times I really really wanted to. This book was such a frustrating read I just wanted to slap everyone involved. The concept of the story I liked but boy oh boy the characters where not that likable, at times yes I didn't mind them. I couldn't connect at all to them, I'm thinking the lack of connection was due to how they where written. I'm hoping the rest of the series is better. I have heard that this was her first book and that many people have had issues with it, so I will read the next book in the hopes that there will be some kind of improvement.

Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson

Undead and Unwed by MaryJanice Davidson My rating: 3 of 5 stars Betsy isn't having a good week from being laid off to getting hit by a car to waking up in the morgue. It turns out that she's a vampire, and not any ordinary one. She can go into churches, wear crosses, holy water doesn't affect her (well unless you count fits of laughter and sneezes). She can go out in the sun, all the things that normal vampires can't do. Why? because she's prophesied vampire Queen. I found Undead and Unwed to be very funny in a shake your head "oh dear" sort of way. There where many great lines "Your dead, I can't hear you.." The over all story was interesting, and I think if it was not written in the style that it was that if would have been just as enjoyable or even more so. To me it was Sex and the City meets Buffy the vampire Slayer, except with Betsy being a vampire rather then a slayer of vampires. I think I'll be reading the second book, at some

Pretty Cover

I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, I generally don't but I will admit that I do stop to check out books if a cover grabs my attention. So here I am checking out the romance section at Chapters online looking at the new releases over the past few months and then all of a sudden my eye sees this: Shadowfae by Erica Hayes I can't get over how pretty it is. So of course I click on it. From the publisher: Imagine a secret world veiled in fairy glamour and brimming with unearthly delights. A city swarming with half-mad fairies, where thieving spriggans rob you blind, beautiful banshees mesmerize you with their song, and big green trolls bust heads at nightclubs. And once you''re in, there''s no escape...Enslaved by a demon lord, Jade is forced to spend her nights seducing vampire gangsters and shapeshifting thugs. After two hundred years as a succubus, she burns
