Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian My rating: 4 of 5 stars Kiss of Midnight was a great book, reminded me of J.R. Ward 's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, which is a complement. I personally found this book to be better then the first BDB. I really enjoyed this story, there was an *eye-roll* moment close to the end that got me thinking, "oh yes the typical such and such scene" but I can over look it, the book was never claiming to be an original in the genre. Lara Adrian 's take on the history of vampires is the twist which gives it its own uniqueness that makes it stand on its own two feet from the others. I had many "oh shit" moments and many surprises where I thought I knew but I didn't, I was close but completely shocked. Do I even need to ask this? Will I be reading the next book? Hell yes! The Unknown (A Novel) by Linda Pendleton My rating: 1 of 5 stars Well now that's done. 1.5 Stars I don't like to give bad reviews, I REALLY don't. People put their time and energy in the writing of their books, so I don't like to sound mean. I was happy to be finished this book, for me it just never did it. For someone else they might highly enjoy it. The funny thing is I found the concept interesting, but how it was presented to me well, not to lie, bored me. I had to add more: I never connected with the characters, I didn't like them. I'm sorry your kids and others have been kidnapped, lets start looking at each with potential feelings. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout My rating: 5 of 5 stars Fantastic! I was unsure how I was going to like Daemon because I liked Dawson so much in Shadows and well he wasn't the most pleasant person in it. And yes he's still acting like an asshat but I didn't mind it. It helped in the tension development between him and Katy. Which is always plus for me. As I read this I was literally laughing out loud, some of the digs where just great. The Host by Stephenie Meyer My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was sooo wary going into this book. I didn't enjoy Meyers' Twilight series, other then the first book. So I was pleasantly surprised as I read this. I will not lie something with the ending bugged me slightly, like it was just tossed on at the last minute. Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut My rating: 4 of 5 stars Slaughterhouse-Five is a fantastic book. Dark, funny, intelligent, sad. Billy Pilgrim, the main character in this book is an American POW. We get to experience is life, some times a few times over as he travels through time and his life in the Tralfamadorians zoo. This has got me thinking, did Billy really time travel and were there really aliens. Perhaps these are the memories of a man who had survived Dresden. Perhaps, something snapped at some point, a result of the war, and as he is just remembering things in a mixed up ways. Perhaps after reading the books by Kilgore Trout, his memories of what happened and what he had read blended together over time. Or perhaps I'm just reading into it a differently because it's always fun to look at all angles. Perhaps, he did really travel and there really were aliens. And has been seeing his life in the past and the future, knowing that all these things will happen and not...
