I Can Has Books?

Naked in Death by J.D. Robb My rating: 4 of 5 stars I have been meaning to start this series for a while now. I have read a few of Nora Roberts books in the past and had liked them, so chances were good that I was going to enjoy her writing under the name J.D Robb. And I was correct. I mean whats not to like, we have a psychological thriller set in the future, yes there is "romantic" moments, well to be honest there was sex and the build up to potential romantic relationship. It's the year 2023, guns have been banned and are illegal, prostitution is a legal and one must register to become a companion. Eve is the primary investigator on what seems to be a "Jack the Ripper" type killer. But there is more then just murder going on, it's not as simple as that. I really like both Eve and Roarkes character both together and on their own. I'm happy with the way each have been presented to the reader. Not giving away to many of their secrets all at once ...

A Beautiful Lie by T.E. Sivec My rating: 4 of 5 stars Imagine being in love with your best friend but you can't do anything about it, because your best friend is going to marry your other best friend, the person who you've been friends with all your life, they are family to you. You step aside because you want your friend to be happy all because of these little words "I saw her first". Imagine finding out everything you thought you knew about your best friends was a lie. That you never really knew anything. Secrets and lies. Somethings can be looked over, something can be forgiven and understood. But sometimes you find out that you never really knew someone, a whole other person. A Beautiful Lie was a great book that completely took me by surprise. Gnome on the Range by Jennifer Zane My rating: 4 of 5 stars Going into this book I was thinking okay quick read that will be silly. *Points to cover, glances at title* And well I was correct. The amount of times I laughed and laughed I can't count, very very humors book. I even snorted, yep that's right I snorted and loudly might I add, because there was so many comical parts. "You got it stuck where?" I got a kick out of all the characters, Goldie especially. Oh and well can not leave out Ty, yummy fire man!!! What I didn't see coming was the nice little mystery involved. Jane, a mom of 2 and widow works at an "adult" store, owned by her mother-in-law, Goldie.. Doesn't have a whole lot of excitement going on in her life, until the day of the garage sale, the day her sons buy those two darn garden gnomes. 4 stars, because it did what it promise it would do and gave me a little bit more. Die for Me: A Novel of the Valentine Killer by Cynthia Eden My rating: 4 of 5 stars Die For Me is a romantic suspense that had me glued to it. With twists and events that keep you thinking everyone is involved. There were a few moments of "Oh I saw that coming" and to times of :O After the initial start, I read it in one sitting. This was my first book by Cynthia Eden and I will definitely check out more of her work. What a first drew me to this book, was the cover. Yes I judged a book by it's cover, YOU ALL DO IT! ;) I have one small teeny tinny negative thing to say, the romantic side of the story. The pairing just didn't do it for me, I can understand the attraction and the sex, that was fine. Everything else just seemed to rushed and unbelievable. But over all this book was great, and it was just the little book break? Filler? I needed. Chased by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon My rating: 5 of 5 stars Book one was fantastic and book two did not disappoint at all. I couldn't put it down, any chance I got read I took it. We pick up were we left off in CeeCee and Max's relationship. Which is still a rather odd pairing, shifter mob boss and a human cop. I can't wait to see more of their tale unfold. We get more of Max's story in this one, which is rather interesting, and I am soooo looking forward to reading the rest of this series. View all my reviews

Private Scandals by Nora Roberts My rating: 4 of 5 stars Deanna works in television her voice and face goes out and into our homes everyday, some get attached, obsessively attached. At first the notes seemed harmless, a fan, fan mail can be rather strange and out there. But then things start to happen, and the notes don't feel quite as harmless anymore. Obsession can be scary. Great book, not my first adventure with Nora Roberts, but it was my first romantic suspense by her. Definitely need to read more in this genre by her. View all my reviews

Red by Kate Kinsey My rating: 4 of 5 stars Red, is a mystery thriller that takes centers around the lifestyle know as kink, BDSM. To the community they are church going, charity giving law abiding citizens. That is the face the outside world sees, and in fact they are all these things. They are teachers, dentist, etc. But it isn't something they talk about, not out in the open in their everything day lives. Someone doesn't like what they do, someone thinks they are all a bunch of perverts a taint on the community. Someone is out to make them stop. Kate Kinsey has written this book very well. Parts of this book are very dark and very disturbing, some of things read about at the crime scenes had me squirming in my chair as I read them. Not for the faint of heart. In my head I saw play out so vivid like I was watching it on the big screen. I was rather surprised by the time I had finished. Abandoned Angel by Kayden Lee My rating: 4 of 5 stars Where do I begin. This book made me feel so many different emotions. From complete disgust and pure hate to breaking my heart. There were moments when I physically felt ill because of the abuse in this book, I was scared for Angelina and my heart ached for her. At times I would think why am I continuing, this is just too much. But I had to, I was on edge, Kayden Lee held my attention from the very start.
