Hunter by Jax, Jacquelyn Frank

Image
Hunter by Jax My rating: 3 of 5 stars *ARC provided by Kensington Books via NetGalley for an honest review* Hunter has came back to his coven after being away for 10 years. And stepping back into his role of the sentinel of Willow coven was a lot easier then he thought would be. He never thought he would be back, never thought he's be given the call to come back but there's a dark coven trying to get in a destroy his, a coven that is lead by someone Hunter is way to familiar with and after certain events things get more then personal. Tatyana is the baby of the family, a family of 13 her closest sibling is her brother a witch who at the time she knows nothing of this. This world of witches and magic comes crashing to her the night her car breaks down and she has to walk in the freezing cold. Little did she know at the time that her whole life as she knew it was going to change. This book was alright, I was kind of hoping for more, the chemistry was good between the ch...

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins

Image
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book was like Harry Potter meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, well minus the vampire slaying. It's the wit of the characters that give me a Joss Whedon feel (which is fantabulus thing because I bow down to him for his my god). Life for Sophie has never been easy or normal. Raised by her human mother, never knowing her father who is a warlock by the way, has lived in more states then you can shake a stick at. Finally after the love spell gone crazy she's been sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for witches, shifters, and fairies. And if she thinks her life wasn't normal before things are just going to get more and more abnormal. And anything but easy. I really liked this book, a lot of twists that I never saw coming. Some mystery, a little bit of romance or more so heavy crushing. A lot of unanswered questions, but good unanswered questions. Because it has me on the edge of my chair now as I wait to read the next b...

Werewolves Be Damned (Magic & Mayhem, #1) by Stacey Kennedy

Image
Werewolves Be Damned by Stacey Kennedy My rating: 3 of 5 stars Nexi is on a mission, to find the wolf that got away. The wolf that did not die at the guardians hands, after the rogue pack murdered her parents. She will never forget that wolf, she will find it and kill it. After the murder of her parents Nexi's life is tossed upside down. Everything that she knew of the world, herself has changed. Not all things are what they seem. There are supernatural beings from the Otherworld who cross over, but to a mere mortal they just appear to look just like every other person. Nexi is connected to these beings in way she could never dream of. Both her real parents are from that world. Her father is a guardian her mother was a witch. Giving her the abilities of both, something that has never happened in the past. The death of her adoptive parents have not been the only murders that have been happening across the country, other people have been killed at the hands (paws?) of other...

Image
Shooting Stars by H.D. Gordon My rating: 5 of 5 stars *Spoilers ahead* Absolutely fantastic!! 5 shooting stars out of 5 A common country boy and a princess, an unlikely pairing. But they have a connection, there is a tale between the two. Is it written in the stars? Princess Surah and Charlie have met just once before, a life time ago, and the secret they share if found out, could get them both in trouble.   "This could get me in big trouble if I'm caught, Surah," he said One side of her mouth lifted. Then don't get caught, Charlie" Now a member of the highborn has been murdered and the Black Stone has been stolen. Surah, as the only remaining child of the king is to investigate the murder and theft. Which places her face to face with Charlie, someone who she never thought she would cross paths with again. This is so much more then a love story, it is a story of magics and sorcery of old with a modern feel at times, a kingdom torn and in ne...

Stained Glass Monsters (Eferum, #1) by Andrea K. Höst

Image
Stained Glass Monsters by Andrea K. Höst My rating: 4 of 5 stars 3.5-4 stars This was an interesting story, that was told from to main people, Rennyn and Kendall. Ren is on a quest to stop the Black Queens grand summoning from happening, something her family has been working on for generations. She had hoped to do it without being seen, with only the help from her brother. But things don't go as planed and she get's tangled up with others. Kendall, has the potential to be a mage, but doesn't really think she can do it. I like the story, I'll probably check out the next book. View all my reviews

Entwined by Heather Dixon

Image
Entwined by Heather Dixon My rating: 4 of 5 stars Azalea, is the eldest of the twelve princess, it is up to her to look after her sisters when their mothers dies. She makes this promise to her her mother, a promise on silver, an oath. After the death of her mother, her father, the king has to go off to war and they are confined in the palace for a year, in mourning. The palace, which was once owned by an evil king, had enchanted the whole place. Some things still held there magic, even after the palace was disenchanted. A tea pot and sugar tongs, secret passage ways that need to be opened with silver. It is in one of these passages that they discover the silver forest, the dancers and The Keeper. He invites them to come whenever they like, to dance. Every night, all twelve princess go through the passage to dance in the magic. But all things come with a price. I really liked Entwined. As I was reading I felt as if I knew this story. Then it hit me, I was reading a story I had already...

Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee

Image
Black Unicorn by Tanith Lee My rating: 4 of 5 stars Yet another great book by Tanith Lee, this is the fourth book of hers that I have read, and I have yet to be disappointed. Black Unicorn is a story, about a young girl, Tanaquil, who is bored and lonely. She feels her mother, who is powerful sorceress, has no time for her. Her father she knows nothing of him, she has never known him. She can mend things, everything she fixes, never breaks. One day with the help of peeve,( cat like animal) she discovers a bunch of bones in the desert. Puts them together to discover it's a unicorn, which comes to life. Tanaquil seems to have this connection with it, or it to her. And chases after it one night, which is the start of her adventure. I could go on, and tell more, but I believe this book should be read and the reader should see the story for themselves. View all my reviews

The Night Watch (Watch #1) by Sergei Lukyanenko,

Image
The Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book makes you ask questions and ponder things like, what is truth. It makes you think, while neatly wrapped up in the world of magics, light and dark. Destiny, are all things known, can you change it? Your actions maybe able to bend things, or at least lead you to believe they do when in the grand scheme of things, you are just a mere little player, a pawn. The Night Watch was a fantastic book, I enjoyed that it was broken down into 3 stories within. But all 3 played an important role to the next. Much like life, we don't just keep going non stop, we take our breaks, we sleep, season change. The things we have done in the past tend to effect the events in the future. View all my reviews

Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price

Image
Grave Witch by Kalayna Price My rating: 5 of 5 stars So wow Grave Witch, an urban fantasy with out vampires or werewolves. Kind of refreshing, not saying anything bad about the vampires and weres just nice to read something different. I really enjoy my urban fantasy's that involve magics, and this one is different then ones I have read before. A Grave Witch is what Alex Craft is, she has the ability to raise the dead, well a shade of their former self. Her clients tend to be people wanting to find out information on family history/ wills disputes etc. But she also works with the police/DA in murder cases, finding how they died and who killed them. Definitely have a new book crush to add to the ever growing list of fictional characters I'm getting giddy over, Falin. Oh my, love how he is so sure of himself, his cockiness, the eye brow arch, LOVE it!!! *Swoon* And then you have Death, who I can't wait to learn more about. I'm sensing he's going to be the romantic ...
