The Underlighters by Michelle Browne My rating: 1 of 5 stars I was given a copy of this for an honest review. I didn't enjoy this book, I'm sorry. The idea was interesting but the execution was not done well. I found myself getting easily bored and distracted when reading it. The characters never interested me in the least. They fell flat and I really could have cared less for them. I really not a fan of saying negative review. Doesn't mean I haven't but just something I don't tend to enjoy. It wasn't for me, I had hoped it would be. I love post apocalyptic stories. And this one seemed like it would be different then the others of the genre that I have read with the crossover elements of scifi and horror. There is potential for this, I will say that. The author has came up with an interesting idea and story. But I think it needs tweaking, something to actually keep the readers attention. So again sorry. View all my reviews

The testing, set in four stages will eliminate those who do not have what it takes to become the future leaders. Those who do pass get to go on to the University and from there into careers that will help in the rebuild. Besides giving us a glimpse of what to expect for the story, the eprequel also includes the first 3 chapters of the book. The Selection by Kiera Cass My rating: 5 of 5 stars OMG I need book two NOW !!! Why are you not out yet!?!?! So going into this I knew there some controversy surrounding this book, all of which I didn't know completely until someone from one of my book groups filled me in (thanks Becca). I had saw all the not to nice reviews and 1 star's and I'm going to give it 5. After reading two back to back major tug at your emotions books, I needed something lighter. Something to entertain me. Which is what this book did. It's like a futuristic fairytale. America is a strong person, who is still herself through it all. She doesn't try to fake it, she doesn't go over board with all she is given during the selection process, the gowns, jewels and makeup. In the end she still wants to look and feel like her. The Host by Stephenie Meyer My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was sooo wary going into this book. I didn't enjoy Meyers' Twilight series, other then the first book. So I was pleasantly surprised as I read this. I will not lie something with the ending bugged me slightly, like it was just tossed on at the last minute. How Beauty Met the Beast by Jax Garren My rating: 4 of 5 stars How Beauty Met the Beast, is a retelling of the classic tale. The beast: Hauk, a former American solder who, after a fire in Afghanistan, is horribly scarred. Beauty: Joile, a student, and burlesque dancer. In the beginning of this book there is a very hot sexual encounter, I assumed would set the tone for the rest of this book, I couldn't be more wrong. But really that was fine with me because we were given the chance to watch Hauk and Jolie's friendship develop and a trust build. Both seem to very interested in each other, but neither make a move to the next step. Hauk, thinking his scars and burns so hideous that someone as beautiful as Jolie would never want anything more then friendship. And Jolie, wanting to see him more often, fears that Hauk will only think it's out of pity. Outside In by Maria V. Snyder My rating: 4 of 5 stars A little slow starting for me, but I think that was just because the first bit was talking about the events of Inside Out . Which to someone who hadn't read the first book recently that would be fine, but as I had only finished that book not that long ago it made the story creep along. I just wanted to get into the action of it. And when the action did start I was engrossed in it. I was left just as confused as Trell, I didn't know who was telling the truth and who wasn't. Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder My rating: 4 of 5 stars 4 1/2 stars. I haven't really read many dystopian novels, so this was a nice change for me. When I had first started I was unsure if I was going to like it but as I got further into it I hooked. Trella, the "Queen of the Pipes" as her fellow srubs call her, did not believe that there was something else, something/place better, the gateway as they call it. In her mission to prove it's non-existence or even existence, meets Riley, an upper, and discovers that what she has always believed isn't what it seems. Still some stones uncovered, really looking forward to reading the next book. Definitely a book I can see me re-reading, need to pick up physical copy. View all my reviews
