I Can Has Books?

Naked in Death by J.D. Robb My rating: 4 of 5 stars I have been meaning to start this series for a while now. I have read a few of Nora Roberts books in the past and had liked them, so chances were good that I was going to enjoy her writing under the name J.D Robb. And I was correct. I mean whats not to like, we have a psychological thriller set in the future, yes there is "romantic" moments, well to be honest there was sex and the build up to potential romantic relationship. It's the year 2023, guns have been banned and are illegal, prostitution is a legal and one must register to become a companion. Eve is the primary investigator on what seems to be a "Jack the Ripper" type killer. But there is more then just murder going on, it's not as simple as that. I really like both Eve and Roarkes character both together and on their own. I'm happy with the way each have been presented to the reader. Not giving away to many of their secrets all at once ...

Speak Easy by Melanie Harlow My rating: 4 of 5 stars I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. Tiny wants more out of life, she works for her father bootlegging whiskey from Canada, and has to take care of her younger sisters. Something she's been doing ever since her mother passed away. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book was like Harry Potter meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, well minus the vampire slaying. It's the wit of the characters that give me a Joss Whedon feel (which is fantabulus thing because I bow down to him for his my god). Life for Sophie has never been easy or normal. Raised by her human mother, never knowing her father who is a warlock by the way, has lived in more states then you can shake a stick at. Finally after the love spell gone crazy she's been sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for witches, shifters, and fairies. And if she thinks her life wasn't normal before things are just going to get more and more abnormal. And anything but easy. I really liked this book, a lot of twists that I never saw coming. Sketchy by Olivia Samms My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars Warning spoilers ahead!! I devoured this book! From the opening right up until the very end my attention was held. Not once did I get bored, and when I had to take breaks I could not wait to get back to it. Bea, is a recovering addict. She's been clean for 3 months. Save the Date by Sadie Grubor My rating: 4 of 5 stars Aidan is a sexy playboy. Who can get any woman he wants, when he wants. Except when he needs to find one to marry. And he needs to get married soon. Lilli feels she needs to do everything by herself. Going to collage while working two jobs, so she can pay the hospital bills for her sick father. She is witty and very attractive, and Aidan can't help but stare at her whenever she is around. This book had me laughing so much, I love Lilli, especially when she's picking on Aidan. They treat her like a slave and call her down constantly because of her size. In order to clean up the family money problems and outstanding debt Wayne offers to pay all of it off and keep them comfortable if Lily agrees to become his wife. Murder on the Rocks by Karen MacInerney My rating: 4 of 5 stars I haven't really read that many cozy mysteries, and I found Murder on the Rocks to be rather enjoyable. Set in a small town in Maine, Cranberry Island. Natalie Barnes is one of the newer residents of Cranberry Island is the owner and innkeeper of the Gray Whale Inn, a bed and breakfast. Even thought she's made friends with many of the the folk who live on the island, there are some who are quick to snub and judge when a murder takes place. So on top of running her inn, baking her many goodies for the townsfolk she has a mystery to solve. This was a delightful little story and I found it cute that the author had the recipes for the baked goods that Natalie prepares at the end of the book. The Secret by Julie Garwood My rating: 5 of 5 stars **5 amazingly wonderful stars out of 5** I knew from the very first line, that I was going to treasure this book. There are many books that I have loved and cherished, and have put on to my favorites list. But then everyone once and awhile a you stumble up on a book that you want to hug into yourself, this was one of those for me. Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian My rating: 4 of 5 stars Kiss of Midnight was a great book, reminded me of J.R. Ward 's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, which is a complement. I personally found this book to be better then the first BDB. I really enjoyed this story, there was an *eye-roll* moment close to the end that got me thinking, "oh yes the typical such and such scene" but I can over look it, the book was never claiming to be an original in the genre. Lara Adrian 's take on the history of vampires is the twist which gives it its own uniqueness that makes it stand on its own two feet from the others. I had many "oh shit" moments and many surprises where I thought I knew but I didn't, I was close but completely shocked. Do I even need to ask this? Will I be reading the next book? Hell yes! Dream Caster by Najeev Raj Nadarajah My rating: 5 of 5 stars First of all I want to say thank you to Najeev Raj Nadarajah for gifting me a copy of Dream Caster thus giving me the chance to read and review your book, and wow what a book it is. I see big things for Najeev, and this series. I can only hope that more and more people find out about this book and this author. I completely loved it. What can I say it is unique, fantastic, wonderful, amazing. Those are just some of the words I could use when talking about this book. Very well written, with many humors moments, I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. The characters are so likable. Naajeev has put so much thought in not just the main character but his supporting cast as well. He hasn't just written them in for the sake of doing so, they are not flat and could potentially have stories of their own to be told. Dell is definitely a favorite of mine. The Selection by Kiera Cass My rating: 5 of 5 stars OMG I need book two NOW !!! Why are you not out yet!?!?! So going into this I knew there some controversy surrounding this book, all of which I didn't know completely until someone from one of my book groups filled me in (thanks Becca). I had saw all the not to nice reviews and 1 star's and I'm going to give it 5. After reading two back to back major tug at your emotions books, I needed something lighter. Something to entertain me. Which is what this book did. It's like a futuristic fairytale. America is a strong person, who is still herself through it all. She doesn't try to fake it, she doesn't go over board with all she is given during the selection process, the gowns, jewels and makeup. In the end she still wants to look and feel like her.
