Save the Date (Modern Arrangements, #1) by Sadie Grubor

Image
Save the Date by Sadie Grubor My rating: 4 of 5 stars Aidan is a sexy playboy. Who can get any woman he wants, when he wants. Except when he needs to find one to marry. And he needs to get married soon. Lilli feels she needs to do everything by herself. Going to collage while working two jobs, so she can pay the hospital bills for her sick father. She is witty and very attractive, and Aidan can't help but stare at her whenever she is around. This book had me laughing so much, I love Lilli, especially when she's picking on Aidan. The sexual tension and humor between them both brought a smile to my face over and over. I really enjoyed it. I won't lie I'm  not overly happy with the basically to be continued ending. Angel Sister by Ann H. Gabhart

Image
Angel Sister by Ann H. Gabhart No rating. Need to finish/DNF I need to move this to my need to finish list, because I can't go on reading it right now. And honestly, I could end up moving it to my newly created DNF shelf. Some people might find this book enjoyable. But not me, at least not at this current time. I was becoming so bored while reading it, I found myself drifting off and wanting to do other things. So for now I'm DNFing this book. I really don't like not finishing a book, in fact I have made myself finish many books over the years that I have not liked. Most times I end up giving the book a bad review/low rating. This one I decided it was best to stop now. Because it could just be me and not the book it's self. Just not feeling it right now. View all my reviews

After Math by Denise Grover Swank

Image
After Math by Denise Grover Swank My rating: 4 of 5 stars Scarlett, is a math major, she also tutors in the lab when not in class. She  wants more out of her life then what she came from. She doesn't want to end up like her family, she wants to make something of herself. She doesn't have time for boys. And whenever someone has been interested she doesn't feel that she could actually feel for anyone, in her mind she's broken. On top of feeling broken inside she has social anxiety , the one thing that keeps her relaxed is doing math. Because with math there are rules to follow everything is kept neatly in it's own little box. Tucker, in university on a soccer scholarship, needs to keep his grades up in order to keep it. Math being the area he is in need of help with,  and it's Scarlett who has been asked tutor him. On top of being a soccer superstar, he is loud, cocky, self destructive and a bit of a man whore, at least that's what he shows on the outsid...

Rebecca by Adam J. Nicolai My rating: 4 of 5 stars ~Warning Spoilers ahead~ Imagine growing up thinking that there was something wrong with you? You were cursed, had a demon inside of you? And imagine that you   prayed every night for eight years for God to make you good, not a sinner, to make you not gay! Because you can't be gay?? Because your faith, your God, your pastor, your church, your mother says it's wrong. Gay people are wrong and they are cursed, they will go to hell! You are wrong, you are going to hell!! Sarah had big dreams, she was going to Yale. That was until she got pregnant and had baby Rebecca. A baby she doesn't really want, a baby that shouldn't have happened, because she shouldn't have been with Cal. Cal, is a homophobic jerk who Sarah ran too. Where Wildflowers Bloom by Ann Shorey

Image
Where Wildflowers Bloom by Ann Shorey My rating: 3 of 5 stars Where the Wildflowers Bloom was actually a very enjoyable read. I know that sounds as if I was doubting it would be, well to be honest I was going into it kind of unsure as to how much I would like it. I've had some not so happy experiences with some of the last few Christian Fiction novels I've read. All Faith Lindberg has left in the world is her Grandpa and his store,  which he has left her in charge of. And memories, painful memories that are around every corner of Noble Springs. She has lost both her father and brother in the war, her mother having died when Faith was but a young girl. Which is why she can not wait to get the store sold so they can make the move west to Oregon. But things do not go as planed for Faith when she discovers the business isn't as successful has she was led to believe. In attempt to turn things around, many things take place to knock her back down. I liked it, it was ni...

Before the Season Ends by Linore Rose Burkard

Image
Before the Season Ends by Linore Rose Burkard My rating: 2 of 5 stars *Waring Spoilers Ahead* Before the Season Ends was an enjoyable read and it got much better as it went on but then it well, went downhill and made me mad . I stayed up into the wee hours finishing this book, slept on it and now that I am awake again, I am still disappointed. This book held my attention and interest for so long and then I wanted to yell at it. Ariana is sent to stay in London with her Aunt, for the season. Her Aunt being overly wealthy is a childless widow who wants to present her niece to society. This will benefit the three parties involved, her aunt's invitations are not as plentiful as they used to be, this will get her invited to more of the Tons events. Ariana will be able to intermingle with the best of society, perhaps find a husband and see some of the sites of London she has hoped to visit. For her parents they want to remove her from the ageing rector that has set his sigh...

Each one being made to leave due to the actions of some of the students. She doesn't have fear because she is confident that she will succeed where the others hadn't. And does he want to now that the pretty new school teacher has caught his eye? This story has much more between the pages then the blurb lets up. The banter between Liza and Ben is great, he is rather a charming fellow. I'm looking forwa...

A Beautiful Lie by T.E. Sivec

Image
A Beautiful Lie by T.E. Sivec My rating: 4 of 5 stars Imagine being in love with your best friend but you can't do anything about it, because your best friend is going to marry your other best friend, the person who you've been friends with all your life, they are family to you. You step aside because you want your friend to be happy all because of these little words "I saw her first". Imagine finding out everything you thought you knew about your best friends was a lie. That you never really knew anything. Secrets and lies. Somethings can be looked over, something can be forgiven and understood. But sometimes you find out that you never really knew someone, a whole other person. A Beautiful Lie was a great book that completely took me by surprise. The blurb dose not prepare you for everything that actually happens in this book. Great story, we have romance, heartache, action, suspense. It was frustrating at times when I just wanted to yell tell them to s...

Alex by Adam J. Nicolai

Image
Alex by Adam J. Nicolai My rating: 4 of 5 stars *Warning slight spoilers* This was a emotionally hard book for me. I don't do well with books that involve children being hurt or dying. I still read them even if I know I'll have an ache in my heart. Ian has lost his child, his wife has moved out, his work is suffering and now it seems he is on the verge of losing his mind. Or is he?? His son was kidnapped and murdered, and while it seems like the world can pick up the pieces and try to move forward Ian can't, not yet. Ian has a battle going on in his head, one side is telling him, he is crazy and that it is just his grief projecting Alex around. The little bits of conversations being ones that had taken place when he was alive. Then there is that other side that arguing what if he really is there? What if Alex is coming back for a reason? And if so what for? Wow what a book. Are we seeing the mental breakdown of a man? or Are we witnessing a soul who ca...

Never Too Far (Too Far, #2) by Abbi Glines

Image
Never Too Far by Abbi Glines My rating: 4 of 5 stars Read on April 23, 2013 Never Too Far picks up just shortly after Fallen Too Far has left off. And I am so glad I waited to read them closer together. BUT NOW I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL LATE SUMMER FOR BOOK 3!!! Like the last book this one was just as frustrating and just as fantastic. A little more serious, a little more grown up. More secrets, more lies. So many times I thought "please don't be stupid, please don't fuck this up". I want to say a few things about the side characters. Bethy, has turned out to be a great friend for Blaire and I'm really happy  how things have turned out good for her. I hope to see more of her in future books. In Fallen Too Far I liked Grant, I thought he was really sweet he was the nice guy to Rush's bad boy image. I liked him more then I liked Woods, this time around I found it the opposite. I still think Grant is great, I was just happy to see a certain side of...

Fallen Too Far (Too Far, #1) by Abbi Glines

Image
Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines My rating: 4 of 5 stars *Warning slight spoilers* Blaire is a 19 year old girl who has seen some real pain and loss. But she is strong and will not crumble, she will not let herself even if on the inside the ache is there.   She is all she has. After her mothers death, she has to sell her home in order to cover the medical bills that three years of treatment built up. The only family she has is her father, the father she hasn't seen or heard from since he walked out on her and her mother five years ago. Even when her momma was dying there was no word. With nothing but her old truck, 20 bucks to her name and a gun for protection she has no other choice then to turn to him. When she finally arrives what she gets isn't what she expected. Rush is a cocky sob with a sweet side, who has issues like all the bad boys in these new adult books. And I can not seem to get enough of them, I've always been attracted to that head tilt, grin, arched eyebrow,...

A Lady of High Regard (Ladies of Liberty, #1) by Tracie Peterson

Image
A Lady of High Regard by Tracie Peterson My rating: 4 of 5 stars A lady of High Regard takes place in 1852 Philadelphia, it deals with areas that a lady of higher standing shouldn't be sticking her nose into. Because after all it isn't proper for women to get involved in such matters of oppression and poverty. She is to be home having tea parties with her friends and gossiping about the latest fashions from Paris. Mai lives a comfortable life, and hadn't realized that in her own town just a few blocks from her home down on the docks, people are living in poverty, barely getting by. Women are left alone to raise a handful of children while the husband has either passed on or are away working on the boats. They can not afford to pay the rent collector, feed their children and pay off their husbands debt. So they are forced to pay in other ways, the men force themselves and make them pay with their bodies or take away a child to sell in labor to pay it off. Through ...

Surrender the Heart (Surrender to Destiny, #1) by M.L. Tyndall

Image
Surrender the Heart by M.L. Tyndall My rating: 4 of 5 stars Marianne needs to marry in order to receive her inheritance. Money that is so desperately needed for her mother and little sister. After the death of her father they were left with nothing, but an outsider could never tell. They hide it well. Being a little plump and a little plain Marianne doesn't really have a line of young men lining up to court her, so it all comes down to an arranged marriage between the families. She does not want to marry Noah Brenin. Noah isn't overly trilled about the prospect of marriage to Miss. Marianne Denton, something made obvious to her and everyone else when he walks out of their engagement party to set sail for South Hampton. Hoping that this trip will grant him more money then Miss. Denton's inheritance could provide therefore making marriage to her unnecessary. Deciding to give him a piece of her mind and get him to come back to the party she follows him down to his shi...

Murder on the Rocks (Gray Whale Inn Mystery, #1) by Karen MacInerney

Image
Murder on the Rocks by Karen MacInerney My rating: 4 of 5 stars I haven't really read that many cozy mysteries, and I found Murder on the Rocks to be rather enjoyable. Set in a small town in Maine, Cranberry Island. Natalie Barnes is one of the newer residents of Cranberry Island is the owner and innkeeper of the Gray Whale Inn, a bed and breakfast. Even thought she's made friends with many of the the folk who live on the island, there are some who are quick to snub and judge when a murder takes place. So on top of running her inn, baking her many goodies for the townsfolk she has a mystery to solve. This was a delightful little story and I found it cute that the author had the recipes for the baked goods that Natalie prepares at the end of the book. Looking forward to my next stay at the Gray Whale Inn. :) 3.5 to 4 stars View all my reviews
