What's a Ghoul to Do? by Victoria Laurie My rating: 4 of 5 stars If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters) If it's somethin' weird an it won't look good Who ya gonna call (ghostbusters) I mean M.J Halliday. That's right she's your resident psychic medium and ghostbuster. Like I said M.J Halliday is a ghostbuster/medium and it seems that where ever she goes there is some poor soul still wandering and can't cross over to the other side. My Little Pony: Pony Tales Volume 1

Image
My Little Pony: Pony Tales Volume 1 by Thom Zahler My rating: 3 of 5 stars Review copy via NetGalley My Little Pony: Pony Tales Volume 1 is a graphic novel that consists of 6 stories, each individual story having a different pony as the focal point. Each story ending with a letter to Princess Celestia with a lesson they have learned. Cute, funny and adorable is what I could call this graphic novel on a whole.BUT that being said it really isn't meant for the younger fans, it is obvious the graphic novel is aimed at the older fan base MLP has, because a child could possibly get a little scared if they understood the meaning of what was said in some of the stories, more specifically the second story, very dark. I enjoyed the stores and the artwork, I would most likely check out more MLP graphic novels in the future. View all my reviews

A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

Image
A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars Once upon a time there was a man who decided we needed fairy tales to be more like the use to be, the way they were originally written. Dark and well grim. This man is Adam Gidwitz. A Tale of Dark Grimm takes us on the travels of Hansel and Gretel as they travel through out many different tales in the search for parents to love them. Grown ups who are actually good. But the thing is no one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes. Something that both children learn as they experience death and much danger. We are given a story that is gruesome, dark, but lighthearted too. Thanks to the Mr. Gidwitz lovely little story interruptions to check on us readers, thank you oh so much for those, they brought a smile to my face each and every time. I sat down to read this book and a few hours later I was done, I didn't take a break at all, well other then to grab and snack and run to the bathroom. You know as I was reading t...

Broken Beauty (Broken Beauty Novellas #1) by Chloe Adams

Image
Broken Beauty by Chloe Adams My rating: 4 of 5 stars Copy provided by Indie Inked This book contains serious subject matter. How does one survive after being raped? Especially when everyone is telling you lies and telling you to keep quite about it. How do you go on when the person who has violated you is free to go on with their lives while you are too scared to move? Mia is the underage minor of a politician and it's election year so everything that happens to him or his family is in the public eye. So of course when she is drugged and raped by the son of a very important allie of her father it has to be hushed and twisted to shine in the favor of her father. She has been so misguided her whole life, never having anyone really there for her. Brained washed to believe that rape can not lead to pregnancy. She blames all of it on herself, what if she never went that party, what if she never wore that dress. Broken Beauty made me so angry and break my heart at the same ...

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins

Image
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins My rating: 4 of 5 stars This book was like Harry Potter meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, well minus the vampire slaying. It's the wit of the characters that give me a Joss Whedon feel (which is fantabulus thing because I bow down to him for his my god). Life for Sophie has never been easy or normal. Raised by her human mother, never knowing her father who is a warlock by the way, has lived in more states then you can shake a stick at. Finally after the love spell gone crazy she's been sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for witches, shifters, and fairies. And if she thinks her life wasn't normal before things are just going to get more and more abnormal. And anything but easy. I really liked this book, a lot of twists that I never saw coming. Some mystery, a little bit of romance or more so heavy crushing. A lot of unanswered questions, but good unanswered questions. Because it has me on the edge of my chair now as I wait to read the next b...
