A wonderful story about self discovery.

Beautiful
Inspirational

Parker Frost, a high school senior, always thought she knew what she wanted in life, she had a plan. Study hard, work hard, go to Stanford and become a doctor. Everything she did was to reach her goal, never once waking off the path laid out before her, never once taking chances.

Until she stumbles across the journal of Julianna Farnetti, who will forever be remembered with her boyfriend, Shane Cruz, as the towns golden couple. Forever in love, a perfect couple who's lives where tragically cut short.

It is the words written 10 years ago and the choices made by others that make Parker open her eyes to what life is all about.

Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

The choices we make and the risks we take or don't take define how the rest of our lives play out. Sometimes you need to take that step, take that chance, no matter how scary it may seem. Even if you fail, at least you did it, you took that chance.

This was the kind of book that I wanted to sit down and read all in one sitting but I wanted to stretch out because I was enjoying it so much.

In Golden we have two stories taking place, we have Parker. The good girl, a straight A student who never does anything that could jeopardize her future plan, because she is too scarred to take that risk, too scared she will disappoint her mother.

And we have Julianna, forever remembered as part of the perfect couple, their image frozen in time. A beautiful and tragic love story. But the story in her journal tells the tale a little differently.

A coming of age story, filled with friendships, art, poetry, mystery, tragedy, firsts, risks, chance, glances, choices.
