An Infamous Marriage by Susanna Fraser
An Infamous Marriage by Susanna Fraser
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
*Warning slightly spolierish*
A deathbed promise to his best friend, Jack finds himself with a wife. A wife that he really doesn't want. To him she is no beauty and rather plan actually. He has no desire to be tied down, and has no plans to change how he lives and acts.
Elizabeth doesn't want to be married to Jack, she wants to be mourning Giles, her late husband. Who made both her and Jack promise that they would be wed once he is gone. He wanted her to be looked after and Jack being his best friend was the only one he thought to be best one to do so. Sadly for Elizabeth there was no time for her to mourn his passing as Jack being a solider in the British army is bound for Canada.
After five years there is peace and Jack is coming home to Elizabeth a wife he has only known through letters, letters that has time passed by seemed to grow colder and more distant. What he sees when he arrives is not at all the image of the women he left with. Now he has found himself, desiring her and needing to figure out how to make her feel the same way for him. But can she get past the stories she's heard about his time in Canada?
I enjoyed An Infamous Marriage, there are plenty of amusing scenes between Jack and Elizabeth, some tender moments and times when I wanted to toss something at the both of them.
