The Mission by Jason Myers

Image
The Mission by Jason Myers My rating: 3 of 5 stars Keaden is going to San Francisco to meet his cousin James, a bestselling author for the first time. It's a trip he is taking to fulfill his dead brother, Kenny's last wishes. He was only hoping to go to the Chuck Palahniuk book reading, spend time with James and see the sights like anyone else. What he experienced is one messed up crazy ride. The 15 year old boy we see at the start has grown up by the end. This book contains fights, lots of drug use, partying, cheating, lies and secrets, all around fuckery. View all my reviews

Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson

Image
Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson My rating: 5 of 5 stars What a fantastic fantastic graphic novel. Phoebe is a 9, she doesn't have friends, just an arch nemesis and with 2 nerdy parents. Then one day by mere accident she becomes best friends with a unicorn. From then on we have nothing but hilarious moments. Recommended to everyone who likes humor, sarcasm, unicorns, nerdy kids and/ or nerdy parents. View all my reviews

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson

Image
Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson My rating: 4 of 5 stars One day Emily wakes up to find her best friend is gone the only thing said to her was a letter containing a list of things for her to complete. With this list Emily's summer is an eye opening one of small victories, friendship and discovering herself. I really enjoyed this book. I could see some of myself in the main character. By that I mean some if her social awkwardness and fears. I like that this book was basically about about stepping out of your comfort zone and self discovery. A great coming of age story. Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

Image
Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta My rating: 3 of 5 stars I liked it, I never loved it. I was quite happy whenever Buffy was mentioned though. This book has a lot of 5 stars and I really couldn't give it that many. It was just an okay book for me. I normally love a good coming of age story but this one for me personally just never lived up to its hype. Don't get me wrong I am in no means bashing the book, I am just stating that I personally felt it wasn't has good as I made myself think it would be. Or how it seemed like it would be at the start. 3.5 stars View all my reviews

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Image
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han My rating: 3 of 5 stars I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book or not once I started reading it. It is light and fluffy but yet it has a more serious and sad side as well. I can see many young girls enjoying this book while lazying about. Fantasizing about summer romances of the past or those yet to come. View all my reviews
