A Moment (Moments, #1) by Marie Hall

Image
A Moment by Marie Hall My rating: 4 of 5 stars Ryan is a local fighter, an ex Marine with a secret so dark it haunts him almost nightly. Especially on Valentines Day, that is the one day of the year he goes out and drinks and drinks, hoping to drown away the pain. He is so broken, he thinks he is beyond repair. Lili, a single mother and collage student, has had a hard life. Her mother is dying, her son, 7 is autistic and she feels that she doesn't love her. She's trying her best to take care of both of them while working and going to school. She doesn't really get time for herself, doesn't make time for herself. Ryan thinks he can't be fixed, Lili hopes to be the one to fix him. But the fear of last Valentines Days is always there in the back of her mind, is he  too broken for her to try. While I enjoyed reading A Moment, somethings felt like they were missing. Just a few things I would have liked to see addressed. They weren't major story altering thi...

Golden by Jessi Kirby

Golden by Jessi Kirby My rating: 4 of 5 stars A wonderful story about self discovery. Beautiful Inspirational Parker Frost, a high school senior, always thought she knew what she wanted in life, she had a plan. Study hard, work hard, go to Stanford and become a doctor. Everything she did was to reach her goal, never once waking off the path laid out before her, never once taking chances. Until she stumbles across the journal of Julianna Farnetti, who will forever be remembered with her boyfriend, Shane Cruz, as the towns golden couple. Forever in love, a perfect couple who's lives where tragically cut short. It is the words written 10 years ago and the choices made by others that make Parker open her eyes to what life is all about.   Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? The choices we make and the risks we take or don't take define how the rest of our lives play out. Sometimes you need to take that step, take that chance, no ...

Gnome on the Range by Jennifer Zane

Gnome on the Range by Jennifer Zane My rating: 4 of 5 stars Going into this book I was thinking okay quick read that will be silly. *Points to cover, glances at title* And well I was correct. The amount of times I laughed and laughed I can't count, very very humors book. I even snorted, yep that's right I snorted and loudly might I add, because there was so many comical parts. "You got it stuck where?" I got a kick out of all the characters, Goldie especially. Oh and well can not leave out Ty, yummy fire man!!! What I didn't see coming was the nice little mystery involved. Jane, a mom of 2 and widow works at an "adult" store, owned by her mother-in-law, Goldie.. Doesn't have a whole lot of excitement going on in her life, until the day of the garage sale, the day her sons buy those two darn garden gnomes. 4 stars, because it did what it promise it would do and gave me a little bit more. The Unknown (A Novel) by Linda Pendleton

Image
The Unknown (A Novel) by Linda Pendleton My rating: 1 of 5 stars Well now that's done. 1.5 Stars I don't like to give bad reviews, I REALLY don't. People put their time and energy in the writing of their books, so I don't like to sound mean. I was happy to be finished this book, for me it just never did it. For someone else they might highly enjoy it. The funny thing is I found the concept interesting, but how it was presented to me well, not to lie, bored me. I had to add more: I never connected with the characters, I didn't like them. I'm sorry your kids and others have been kidnapped, lets start looking at each with potential feelings. Lets toss some romance into the book, which just felt awkward and out of place, and stop calling her "kiddo" Sorry all end rant!! View all my reviews

Sunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk

Image
Sunny Days for Sam by Jennifer Shirk My rating: 4 of 5 stars Sam, is a single father. His children, Emma and Cole, are his world even if doesn't always put them first. A busy man who has a business to run. Wanting to spend more time with his kids decides to take them to the coast for the summer. He doesn't trust easily, he's been used many times before and thinks that everyone is out for themselves, wanting what he can do for them and not him for himself. Sunny, as cheerful and sweet as her name suggests, will take any job she can to get by and pay off her debt, as well to save to go back to college. After her grandmother got sick, she left school to devote all her time and energy taking care of the one person who was both a mother and father to her. After her death she was left with a huge debt. She doesn't believe in asking for help, even though at a drop of hat she would go out of her way to help others. Still a believer in fairy tales and happily ever after. I fo...
